	The Youth Climate Movement: Rising to the Challenge of our Generation Speaker: Anna Rose
About the Speaker: Anna Rose founded the Australian Youth Climate Coalition in November 2006. The coalition unites a diversity of youth organisations to build a generation wide movement to solve climate change. Anna recently graduated from the University of Sydney with a combined Arts (Asian Studies)/ Law degree with first class honours. Anna was National Environment Officer for the Australian National Union of Students in 2005 and is past National Convenor of the Australian Student Environment Network. She is a former editor of the Sydney University student paper Honi Soit and a frequent speaker and writer on climate justice issues in Australia and overseas. In 2005 Anna was a youth representative to the Kyoto Protocol negotiations in Montreal and in 2007 was a youth delegate to the UN Secretary General's Meeting on Climate Change in New York . She is a contributing editor to the blog ItsGettingHotinHere.org, and has spent a year working with the progressive movement in the United States , including on the Obama campaign and for the Energy Action Coalition. Anna holds a Global Youth Action Net Fellowship from the International Youth Foundation for 2007-2008, is part of the Australian American Leadership Dialogue, and holds an Australian Leadership Award from the Australian-Davos Connection.
Topic Overview: Youth and students have a powerful role to play in solving climate change. Anna will speak about the growing youth climate movement in Australia , the United States and around the world. She will tell her own inspiring story of how one young person decided to make a difference, and share the stories of other youth and students doing amazing climate work from Africa, the UK , Canada , Japan , China and more. The Australian Youth Climate Coalition is one of the most dynamic and exciting movements in Australia mobilising around climate change. Anna will outline the AYCC's vision for a clean energy future, how youth are already working to make that future a reality, the challenges we face, and what you can do to help.
