Mary Hendriks

Topic Overview:

Al Gore calls for America to repower by “producing 100 percent of (our) electricity from renewable energy and truly clean carbon-free sources within 10 years”. In Australia our advisors, including Professor Garnaut, look for more modest approaches.

Is Al Gore's suggestion feasible for Australia? Should we, as a nation, be considering this strategic direction?

In this talk, Mary Hendriks of Aussie Renewables will address three questions:

- What are the options for Australia to change our electricity infrastructure to significantly use sources of renewable energy?

- What are the opportunities for Australia and Australian businesses in this global economic shift?

- Is the time frame of 10 years reasonable, and how long could it take to significantly repower Australia?
